He lost his job after 9 years and needed help with a rent check until unemployment started…
They needed to pay an emergency medical bill…
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.” Ecclesiastes 4:9,10
We were not made to live in isolation. We were created to resemble a team that works together and helps each other. The Benevolent Fund at FCC is part of the way we function as a team that helps each other when one “falls.” None of us are immune to “hard times” and sometimes we need a “hand” to reach out and help us get going again. The Benevolent Fund is one way FCC provides that “hand.”
FCC’s Deacon Board is responsible to administer the Benevolent Fund. Three Deacons are specifically assigned to assess requests that come. Our Pastoral Staff refers requests to the “Benevolent Guys” for their review and judgment.
Gifts to the Benevolent Fund can be accepted at any time by writing Benevolent Fund in the memo line and put in the weekly Offering along with your usual contribution. Benevolent envelopes are provided in the bulletin as another way to help you give toward this Fund.
Many are helped at FCC, and some are helped through the Benevolent Fund. Please give as you can to “help another up.”
“When did we see you hungry and gave you food or thirsty and gave you something to drink?... ‘Truly I tell you,’ Jesus replied, ’ just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’” Matthew 25: 37,40
