According to this one precious bible verse, God wants to make His word known to us in three areas of our lives. You and I can make it personal like Paul the apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The awareness regarding my sin—My life’s past: “My old self has been crucified with Christ … who loved me and gave himself for me.” What does it means, “My old self has been crucified?” It means my old self, my old me, my old life, my old sinful nature, my old habit, my old transgression, and my old sin—past, present, and future, has been nailed to the cross and paid in full by Christ Jesus who loved me and gave himself for me. The Lord Jesus paid in full for our sin debts He never owed. Thank God for His amazing and abundant grace that saved a wretch like me. The Bible says, “Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.” –1 Corinthians 15:3-4. Christ is risen and He is risen indeed. He is alive. He lives forevermore. Thank You Jesus for the greatest sacrifice He has made for us and because of us. Our old selves have been crucified with Christ in the moment we believed –Acts 10:43. What a glorious day that will be, the day I am free from bondage of sin. Thank You Jesus for saving my soul. Thank You Jesus for making me whole. Thank You Jesus! I am now free at last because Christ lives in me.
The acknowledgement regarding my Savior—My life’s present: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me … who loved me and gave himself for me.” Apostle Paul acknowledged Jesus’ lordship over his life and Jesus’ living presence in his own life. That is why he said, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” At the end of this verse the apostle Paul said, “Christ who loved me and gave himself for me.” He knew so well of the facts of Jesus’ resurrection power, but he wanted to be sure that you and I are aware of the living presence. Jesus is now living inside me and He lives insides those who are His followers. What happens when someone welcomes Jesus into his or her life? The Bible says, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17. The living Jesus lives in me and He lives in the life of those who put their trust in Him. What next? He will continue to change us, to shape us, to mold us, and to make us the person He wants us to be. Oh what a joy of having the living God live inside us. The moment you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have the living God inside you from that day forward and He lives in you forever –John 14:16-17. Because Christ lives in me, I can face tomorrow and hope for the best in Him.
The acceptance regarding my salvation—My life’s pattern: “So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” This is the true and faithful statement: “Believe on the Lord Jesus you and I will be saved.” –Acts 16:30-31. But it is not the end; it’s just the beginning of our journey of faith in the Lord Jesus. As long as we shall live, we will continue to live by faith and trust in the living God. What does it mean to live by faith and trust in the Son of God? To live by faith and trust in the Son of God means that I must agree, accept, and adopt His word of truth even it doesn’t make sense sometimes. And also means that I will continue to live by faith and trust in the Lord Jesus even when my life confronts difficulties, dark day, or deep water, knowing that He will never leave me nor forsake me, and no matter what and how, with His help I will be able to make it through this life. By His grace I will continue to live a life of faith and trust not only what God can do, but what God will do according to His faithful promise. That is my life’s pattern. I noticed each time when God answered my prayer and performed miracles in my life, my faith and trust in Him increases. I am sure you will have the same experience in your walk with the living Jesus. We are called to live by faith and trust in the Lord Jesus –Romans 1:17. Walk by faith – 2 Corinthians 5:7. Find faith in everything you do in life – Hebrews 11:6. Grow in faith – Colossians 2:6-7. Through faith in the Lord Jesus, God will be honored – 1 Peter 1:5-8.
