- God is always with us. He doesn’t need to reunite with us. We just need to turn our “God radar” on and realize that He is right there. Pastor Judy talked about getting out of the center of our lives and learning to be “off centric.” (See her first message.) She talked about realizing that the world does not revolve around us but that we need to realize that we revolve around God. He is the center. We get off balance when we think that we are the center and then we collide into each other and to Him. Collisions hurt!
- There is no one who is not a member of God’s family. When I think of a Family Reunion I think you have to be a member of a specific family or connected into that family. We are all a part of God’s family and that is the point. We do not have to be invited. There are no bloodline requirements or other qualifications. God says you are in and we just need to say YES! Some of us know this for sure, some need to be reminded and some have yet to believe that this could possibly be true for them, but it is. God says you are mine. I created you and you are a part of Me! You might not believe it but He does.
- God always wants us to be with Him. There is not a set time or set place. You don’t have to bring anything or even wear the family Tshirt to identify you. He knows you. He sees you just as you are. He has been calling to you to come to where He is - at the center of the world, at the center of your world. He is already there and He is inviting you to notice Him, to acknowledge Him, and to participate with Him in your life. God told the prophet Isaiah “For my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways” 55:8, but they could be because God tells Isaiah to “Come,… to listen… and to seek Him while He is near.” See vs 55:1-6. God is at the center and we are invited to move in toward Him.
So while I’ve come to believe God doesn’t do Family Reunions He will always be at yours. He will always be there with you whenever, wherever and with whomever you gather because He always has been there. You see, you and I live in constant union with God from His perspective. He is at the center of it all. It is up to us to reunite with Him. Today, ask yourself how you might come closer to reuniting with God, how you might notice Him in all His ways in your life and then tell someone about just one thing you discover. If you’d like to talk to someone about this further please let any of our Pastoral Staff know and let’s have a conversation about YOUR Family Reunion.
