Do you know the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ? What does grace mean to you? Do you know why God has given us grace? This abundant and amazing grace is God’s gift to us. Dr. Charles R. Swindoll spelled grace with this acrostic: G.R.A.C.E – God Riches At Christ’s Expense. Grace appears 156 times in the New Testament, it takes on a special redemptive sense in which God makes available his favor on behalf of sinners like us who do not deserve it. As sinners, we deserve wrath and condemnation. Grace is what God has done for us. God showed us His grace through the death of His own Son, the Lord Jesus Christ on that old rugged cross over 2,000 years ago. On the third day He rose again to prepare salvation for all men. But what makes God’s grace so amazing? It is because of …
HIS UNLIMITED POSSESSION – “You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know that Christ was rich” Do you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ? Do you know how rich Christ is? The bible says, “The God who made the whole world and everything in it is the Lord of the land and the sky.” Acts 17:24 (NCV) – “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.” Psalm 24:1 (NLT) – The richest people in the year 2014, the world’s top ten billionaires were: 1. Mr. Bill Gates, $76 billion – 2. Mr. Carlos Slim, $72 billion – 3. Mr. Amancio Ortega, $64 billion – 4. Mr. Warren Buffett, $58.2 billion – 5. Mr. Larry Ellison, $48 billion – 6. Mr. Charles Koch, $40 billion – 7. Mr David Koch, $40 billion – 8. Mr. Sheldon Adelson, $38 billion – 9. Mrs. Christy Walton, $36.7 billion – 10. Mr. Jim Walton, son of Sam Walton, $34.7 billion. If we put together the total amount of money of all those billionaires, we come up with $507.6 billion. Yet this incredible total is still incomparable to the unlimited possession that the Lord Jesus has. It’s far beyond any amount that we could ever comprehend. The bible says, “For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.” Psalms 50:10 (NLT) “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord All-Powerful.” Haggai 2:8 (NCV) – “My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need.” Philippians 4:19 (NCV) – Because of Jesus’ unlimited possession, you and I can come to Him for help in times of need. Thank You Jesus for Your unlimited possession.
HIS UNPARALLELED POVERTY – “You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know that Christ was rich, but for you he became poor” – Have you ever known, met, heard of, or seen anyone, any prince, any king, or any ruler who was born in a manger? Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Most High God above all gods, although he is so exalted, He became lowly. He is so rich but He became poor. He is so powerful and strong but He became weak. Do you know why Jesus did that? He did all of that just because of us. He became the poorest among the poor. He is the Creator of everything and of every human being. He owns everything and everyone including you and me, but He chose to live with nothing to own except His robe. During His execution on the cross, the enemy gambled for that robe. He had no home, no permanent address. He had no bank account, no social security benefits, no retirement plan. One day when a man asked to follow Jesus, but He replied, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Luke 9:58 (NKJV) – Thank You Jesus for Your unparalleled poverty.
HIS UNSWERVING PURPOSE – “So that by his becoming poor you might become rich.” Why did the Lord Jesus become poor? So that you and I can become rich through faith in Him. God’s grace is available to everyone. We can be saved by grace. We can serve by grace. We can share God’s amazing grace to everyone who needs Jesus. God made us and loves us. His ultimate purpose is that we may know His truth and be saved (1 Timothy 2:3-4) – All else can be changed and will change, but God’s purpose and plan for our lives never changes. His purpose is to bring each one of us to Himself. Jesus died so that we might live. Thank You Jesus for Your unswerving purpose.
