Attendance: The 11am Service had a humble beginning, counting 45 people for most of its first year. We were in the 60’s and 70’s in its 2nd and 3rd year. We hit the 90’s in March this year, and on May 11th we reached the 100-mark for the first time as a worshipping venue. The attendance has been strong in the Fall, recording 103 and 110 in the first two Sundays in September. But more importantly, I noticed that community is being formed as more and more people would stay behind to talk and catch up. I even saw our students offering prayers for each other! As we celebrate the 3rd anniversary of this venue and the community that emerged, let us not forget to give thanks to God for His work in our midst. He is the reason why we gather to worship in the first place.
Full Children Program: We just kicked off our new pre-K through 5th grade Kids Program at the 11am hour. Kids and parents join in with the singing and prayer as a family, then during the food and fellowship time, kids from pre-K through 5th grade will be gathered into the adjacent Fireside Room for an interactive Bible time and activities. We are thrilled that 8 kids showed up the first Sunday and they loved our newly purchased felt board and props!
Youth Leadership & Participation: We have a youth participation rate of 25 - 30% on a typical Sunday. Teens are often seen occupying one or two rows of chairs or gathering around a round table, and they are all very engaged during the service. Many of them do not just participate but also lead up front. We believe that many teens are engaged because they see their peers leading up front, and they feel that their voice is being represented in our worship experience. Currently, a total of 17 middle school, high school, and college students serve on the 11am ministry team. We are excited about being ONE as a church too - many of our teen musicians are now scheduled to lead in the 9am and 10:30am service, and in turn we will be scheduling some of the 9am and 10:30am musicians to lead in the gym!
Newcomers: Newcomers are being incorporated in community and spiritual growth. About ¼ of those who serve on the 11am ministry team attended FCC for less than 1 year. And I am thrilled to be welcoming newcomers to our church on a weekly basis, to a point that I do not even get to greet and meet everyone who is new (I do get to call them or meet them later, thankful to our tear-off system), which is a good problem!
On the 3rd anniversary as a worship venue, I need to acknowledge and thank the leaders who had served tirelessly behind the scene - Rhonda Aburahma, Chrissy Woo, Vincent Arcellana, Terry & Lisa Pickett, Katy & Mark Collins, Connor Holliman, Angel Church, Laura & Joey Chapdelaine, Kitchie Ranillo, Kat Ranillo, Kezia Ranillo, Chris Kimsend, Andy Loux, Tim Loux, Marcus Amaro, Svetlana & Steve Robinson, Chelsea & Chris Boniak, Zule Lazard, Marcus Leung, Leslie & Patrick Grey, Matt & Martha Miles, Kathryn Garlick... and the many volunteers, I cannot list you all. My prayer is that we will be strong in our unity as a church, while we press on creatively and missionally in seeking out ways to reach out to more people in our community.
