There are several opportunities that we are offering you here at FCC in this season of Thanksgiving. I would encourage you to consider how you have been blessed and how you might want to respond.
Thanksgiving Eve we will have a Thanksgiving Worship Service at 7:30 in our Sanctuary. This will be an experiential, warm and welcoming service that unites us and reunites us as the family of God. At that Service, we will be taking an Offering that will go to Covenant World Relief. Covenant World Relief (CWR) has been the Evangelical Covenant Church’s response to human suffering and injustice in the world for more than sixty years. Through disaster relief and community development, we partner in the transformation of individuals, families, and communities. Our mission is to join God in loving, serving, and working together with the poor, the powerless, and the marginalized. More info on CWR, please click here. If you’d like to give an Offering to CWR, and cannot be at the Thanksgiving Eve Service, you can give online via the FCC website or on Sunday along with your regular Offering with CWR in the memo line on a separate check.
During this season, we are also continuing to support missions both locally and internationally with a Giving Tree here at FCC. On this tree you will see ornament like tags that represent the following areas of opportunity for giving:
Locally, ornaments for Salvation Army and Harbor House will give you the opportunity to buy a gift and direct you on how to bring it to one of these locations. This allows direct contact and encouragement with families and ministries here in our city.
Internationally there are ornament tags for Covenant Cares and Mission Nicaragua. The Covenant Cares ornaments provide the opportunity for individuals or groups of all ages to purchase items from the Covenant Cares Registry such as chickens, a goat, a sewing machine, or other gifts that will help continue mission work that the Evangelical Covenant Church is a part of in over 38 countries around the world. The ornament tags for Mission Nicaragua will give you opportunities to provide equipment or supplies and to help support our College Group Team who will be going to Nicaragua later this year.
You may want to give a gift in honor of someone or in memory of someone. Simply wrap up the tag and your shopping is done! How you choose to give is up to you. We are hopeful that each of us will experience the deep joy of thanks giving that God offers to us. Be blessed and be a blessing!
