What causes you to worship? What do you regularly worship? We all worship. Some worship their family, some their bank account, some their physical abilities, some their intellectual abilities…the list goes on, but really what causes you to worship? For those who love Jesus there are many answers to that question. Take a moment and answer for yourself. What causes you to worship Jesus?
Each week we work to craft worship that will cause you to actively worship the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We try to find ways to draw us all from where we are to a place of active worship. For some the medium is music, for others the sacred space, for some it is the gathering of other believers, and for others it is the spoken word. Our Covenant Book of Worship states:
“Worship is the means by which we affirm the reality and sovereignty of God, confess our finitude and dependence upon God, and celebrate the dignity and worth God bestows on all people.”
Our Covenant Book of Worship says that “Worship should be reverent, festive, and beautiful.
Reverent because God is present and human beings should always stand in awe before the High and Holy One.
Festive because the High and Holy One loves us and has redeemed us and claimed us, and this is something to celebrate!
Beautiful because the Triune God deserves the most beautiful, the most lavish gifts human beings can bring (Mark 14:1-9)
May the “answering speech” of God’s people result in praise for the Triune God, reflect and address human need, lead the worshiping congregation to mission on behalf of the Crucified and Risen One who still calls to Himself all who would hear.”
May you and I be drawn to true and heartfelt worship! Join me in welcoming Rhonda and Mayotis as they serve along with us in worshiping Him.
