I am so very thankful for Pastor Paul Wilson. He served faithfully as our lead Pastor from 2002 to just last month April 2014. But more than that, God has used and will continue to use him as someone who fans the flame of ministry movements in the church and as someone who tirelessly invests in others for the sake of the good news of Jesus. Even though we celebrate his new role to be our Pacific Southwest Conference Superintendent, I want to give thanks and praise to God for how he has used his servant, Paul in these past 11 years of my life.
I want to give God thanks for how he has taught me through Pastor Paul that often we don’t have it right, but we need the faith and hope to believe that God is always working towards connecting us to him and to the new life of the Spirit. These are some of the verses that, over the past 11 years, Pastor Paul has helped me see with new clarity.
Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” John 5:17
“I am making everything new! Revelation 21:5
There are many stories that can be told about moments in between that phone call and our present day reality here at FCC, but none of it would have happened without the Spirit guiding the connections that were made on that day in 2002. I dialed the wrong number, but I believe it was used by God to be the right connection.
- What are some ways that God might be wanting to connect us to him and others even though we have often dialed the wrong numbers in our lives?
- How might God be working to connect you to an authentic faith in him?
- How might God be working to connect you to living a holy life for him?
- How might God be working to connect you to a vibrant life of mission and sharing your faith with others?
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! For he takes the wrongly dialed parts our hearts and works to make right connections for us in his Spirit for the sake of his Gospel. Amen!
